Tomorrow will take care of itself

Memorial St Aloysius Gonzaga, religious

2 Cor 12:1-10; Ps 33:8-13; Mt 6:24-34

‘So do not worry about tomorrow’ (Matthew 6:34)

With all the stresses of daily life, there are times when we may feel overwhelmed within ourselves to the point that no words can express the depth of our anxieties. Questions arise such as: How can I resolve this conflict? What is causing my friend to be so distant from me? Why is there so much suffering in our world?

Jesus challenges us in this gospel to have a different approach.  He calls us to be open to the power of God’s presence in our lives, the God who knows the inner most depth of our hearts, the God of compassion and mercy, the God who promises us that if ‘we set our hearts on his kingdom first, all other things will be given you.’

Such a promise is a challenge for each of us as we pray for the courage to open our hearts to Jesus’ words knowing that His unconditional love will give us the courage to live through the daily difficulties that each day may bring. Through the intercession of St Aloysius, may we grow in our love for God and our sisters and brothers wherever we are called to serve.
