Alpha is a relaxed, no-pressure space to explore the big questions about Christianity. Think great food, honest conversation, and a room full of people asking the same things you are. No right answers required. No judgement.
It’s a chance to check out Alpha, see what it’s all about, and decide if it’s for you – with absolutely no strings attached.
Everyone is welcome. Feel free to bring a friend.

Do I need to register?
Registering will help us to plan for catering for the event as we will ask for your first name and dietary needs. If you forget to register, don’t let that stop you from coming. We’d love to see you there!
Can I bring a friend?
Absolutely!
Who is this for?
The Alpha Course is for anyone exploring Christianity. If you are an atheist, agnostic, a lapsed Catholic or not sure where you sit when it comes to religion and spirituality, this is a space for you!
Do I have to do anything (speak, ask questions)?
We want you to feel comfortable, so we invite you to interact as much or as little as you want.
Do I need to know anything about the Bible?
You do not need to know anything about the Bible or other religious texts.
How long does the event go for?
The Alpha Course begins at 6:30pm and ends at 8:00pm. We will begin and end on time.
Are other attendees religious?
Attendees will be from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
Is it free?
Yes!
Do I have to stay the whole night?
You are welcome to leave at any time. We hope that you will give the experience a chance and stay as long as possible.
Who runs Alpha?
There is a small team of fun and inclusive people from Archdiocesan Ministries, an agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane, that will be running the The Alpha Course.
What if I don’t know anyone else who might be going?
Alpha is designed to be a warm and welcoming environment where strangers become friends.
I have a food allergy. Will my meal be provided for?
Yes. Through your registration, we will be able to cater to your dietary needs.
Where is it being held?
We are holding The Alpha Course in the Hanly Room in the Francis Rush Centre of St Stephen’s Cathedral precinct (196 Charlotte Street, Brisbane).
Is there parking?
Yes. Parking will be available onsite via the Cathedral carpark (194 Charlotte Street).
Once you have parked, take the lift up to the Ground Floor, and then you will see the Hanly Room on your left.
We will have posters and signage up to help you find the venue!
