Matthew 11:25-27

NRSV
At that time Jesus said, ‘I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

Let the sun shine

"and have revealed them to infants:" (Matthew 11:25)

I think we overcomplicate this whole Christianity caper. Jesus himself said that He has revealed the business of heaven, not to the learned, but to the children. The ones without the prejudice, without the judgement, the ones with the pure hearts. If we spent more time sitting, and less time chasing, we might feel like we experience this more with the heart of a child. It all comes down to the fact that God absolutely loves us. Every hair on our head. Every fibre of our being. If we could get just a miniscule realisation of this, we would be profoundly changed.

We have all seen a child’s face light up when their parent enters a room. It is like the sun has come out! How lovely it would be for us to look for God like that, and when we spy Him, for our face to shine!

Friends, let us stop for a while today, be still and ask God to reveal His love to us, not in a complicated, learned way, but in the simple way that a child knows they are absolutely, truly, loved. It might be transformational!

Will you invite God to shine in your heart today?
