What is Alpha?

Alpha is a ten-week journey that creates powerful opportunities for people to encounter Jesus through the presence and work of the Holy Spirit. It supports parishes and communities across the Archdiocese of Brisbane to form missionary disciples who are equipped to share their faith with others in their neighbourhoods and wider community.

Rooted in conversation, hospitality, and prayer, Alpha also serves as a highly effective complementary resource for the enquiry stage of the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults), helping participants explore faith in a welcoming, relational and Spirit-led environment.

How does Archdiocesan Ministries support Alpha?

Our Adult Formation team offers an Archdiocesan Alpha Journey that walks closely with parish and community teams as you discern, prepare, and launch Alpha in your local context. In collaboration with Alpha Australia, we provide formation, training, and ongoing support to help parishes and communities build confident leadership teams and run a fruitful Alpha season. Our heart is to journey with you step-by-step, equipping you to create welcoming spaces where people can encounter Jesus and grow in faith.

The Archdiocesan Alpha Journey is going regional in 2026! Our first Alpha Journey for the year will be based in the Gold Coast and Logan region, however all parishes and communities from across the Archdiocese are invited.

Parishes and communities from across the Archdiocese are invited to join us for an inspiring evening as we explore what Alpha can look like in your local context. This experiential event gives you the chance to see and feel a typical Alpha session – the atmosphere, the conversation, and the impact.  and the impact. In collaboration with Alpha Australia, we’re bringing parish and community teams together to imagine what introducing or reigniting Alpha could mean for your community. We encourage parishes or communities to send at least two parishioners, or as many potential team members as possible. Spots are limited, so be sure to secure your place soon!

We warmly invite all parishes and communities who would like to take part in the Archdiocesan Alpha Journey to join us at this important second destination point. You do not need to have attended the Come and See event to join us on the Journey.  Everyone is welcome to step in here.
