Where does my heart lie?

~ Thursday Week 2 of Easter ~

Acts 5:27-33; Psalm 33:2,9,17-20; John:3:31-36

‘He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure’ (John 3:34)

Today’s Gospel invites us to enter more deeply into the mystery of Jesus, His divine origin, His saving mission, and the boundless love of God poured out through Him.

John’s words reveal Jesus is not distant or abstract.  Rather, he is living and present in our hearts and in our midst.  He is the Word made flesh, the One who was with God and is God. He comes not to condemn but to reveal, to speak, to save. Through Him, we receive the Spirit. And in the Spirit, we find the strength to walk the path of Jesus.

This gospel invites us to pause and to look deeply into our own hearts and ask: Where does my heart lie?  Is it fixed on things of the earth, or do I lift my gaze to the One who comes from above—the risen Christ?

When we truly listen and open our hearts, we encounter the living Word of God and the outpouring of the Spirit, who transforms, consoles and empowers us to live with courage and love.

So today, let us listen to and ponder the words of Jesus.  Not casually, but reverently. Let us allow His words to take root in our hearts. And let us ask, boldly and humbly, for the Spirit to be poured into our lives in new and deeper ways.
