What is Encounter?

Encounter is a Brisbane-wide Youth project run under Archdiocesan Ministries Founded in 2020, our mission is to get the largest amount of young people to encounter Jesus and live The Gospel!

We now have four locations: Springfield (that’s you!), Kedron, Caboolture and Coomera.

WHAT HAPPENS AT ENCOUNTER?

At Encounter Springfield, we run every Friday night of the school term for grades 7-12, from 6:30pm to about 8:30pm at Our Lady of the Southern Cross Parish, Springfield Lakes, QLD (58 Opperman Drive). We’ve got great food, fun games, superb praise and worship, and awesome opportunity to dive deeper into faith as a young person through talks and small groups.

It’s all so good! and bonus, attending is 100% free!

Term 1

This Term we’re diving into our lenten series ’40/40′. Journey with us every Friday on Jesus’ journey during the 40 days and 40 nights in the desert preparing His heart and mission.

This Lent, we want to invite you to slow down, pay attention, and discover how God speaks in the quiet. Our 40/40 Series explores the heart of Lent through 6 key practices that help us grow in faith:

Fasting

Week 1, we’re learning how letting go of distractions creates space for God, gratitude and compassion.

Exploring practical ways to show kindness, serve others and recognise God’s love in action.

Understanding prayer as an intentional honest relationship with God – not something complicated or perfect.

We’ll be heading to Reco Rally an event run by the Archdiocese of Brisbane. Us and Youth groups all across the Archdiocese will come together for a night of fun, praise and worship and discovering the Lord’s mercy and peace that comes from returning to God with an open heart.

Walking with Jesus through Palm Sunday and Holy Thursday – the centre of our story of hope.

Walking with Jesus through Good Friday and the Easter Vigil – the centre of our story of hope.
